Twenty-five years after his first performance at Texas Music Cafe®, Ian Moore is coming home. The Austin-born guitarist, known for his electrifying blend of blues, rock, and soul, will grace the stage once again on October 18, 2024, in what promises to be a night of musical magic and nostalgia.
Moore’s journey from Austin prodigy to Seattle-based musical explorer has been nothing short of extraordinary. “Nothing has changed regarding performance,” Moore reflects. “My goals are always the same. I want to be present, emotional, and open. This is the best way I know to present music.”
From his early days as a classical violinist to being dubbed “the next Stevie Ray Vaughan,” Moore has consistently defied expectations. His sound has evolved over the years, incorporating elements of Southern soul, gospel, and pop, all while staying true to his Texas roots.
“Austin music has been branded and turned into a style that it never actually was,” Moore explains. “Though the outfits and accents sound and look correct, the intention was almost the opposite of what is being exported. It was open-minded, creative music made by many people, taking in all kinds of cool and unique music, largely unaware of industry fads and styles and unique in its vision and influences.”
This return to Texas Music Cafe® isn’t just a homecoming; it’s a celebration of Moore’s musical journey. Fans can expect to hear a mix of classics and new material, all delivered with the soulful intensity that has become Moore’s trademark.
“I’ve always had bands, and they have really influenced the sound,” Moore says. “Follow any great band, and you are going to go on a journey. The journey is the coolest part.”
As Moore prepares to take the stage once again in Waco, he brings with him the lessons learned from touring with legends like the Rolling Stones and ZZ Top, as well as the wisdom gained from nearly three decades in the music industry.
“Do what you believe in,” Moore advises young musicians. “Surround yourself with people who understand and can help you grow your vision. Don’t compromise what you believe in the pursuit of success. True success is making it by doing what you believe in.”
For Moore, this performance at Texas Music Cafe® is more than just another gig. It’s a return to his musical roots, a chance to connect with longtime fans, and an opportunity to showcase the evolution of his sound.
“My goals are the same as they’ve always been: chasing beauty and truth,” Moore says. “Trying to refine my sound and words to be more impactful. I am exploring who I am and what I feel, hoping that that journey and its truth will resonate with others.”
